TWST's interview with Jingwei CEO Mr.Rick Luk
TWST: Would you please start with an overview of Jingwei International and a history of your company?
Mr. Luk: The company was founded 11 years ago as a provider of business intelligence, billing, operations support systems and customer relationship management software services to telecom operators in China. Through the services provided, over the years we have accumulated a massive amount of consumer profiles and have utilized the resulting database, which has now grown to over 400 million profiles, to build a complementary data mining and interactive marketing services business. Through our data mining business, we help companies more effectively reach their target customers. Our company's headquarters is in Shenzhen, and we have service presence in more than 20 key cities across China. We entered the U.S. capital market and were listed on OTC in May 2007. This year, with great efforts from the team, we have accelerated our growth and were successfully up-listed on the Nasdaq exchange, which is a major milestone for the company. Through our listing on Nasdaq, we hope to build better brand awareness among international companies operating in China. As well we hope to become a more familiar name to institutional investors and aim to create better value and return for our shareholders.
The company today consists of two core businesses, data mining, which includes interactive marketing services and makes up approximately two-thirds of our revenue, and software services, which accounts for the rest of our revenue. From a business perspective, these two businesses are very complementary and enjoy considerable synergies. Our core competence in BI, data mining and CRM software services provides the tools to power our data mining business. And by leveraging our database of 400-plus million consumer profiles and our national Internet service provider license, we're very well positioned to capitalize on favorable new opportunities that exist in China right now, including the 3G rollout, three-network convergence, and the Intelligent State Grid Networks upgrade program. With positive tailwind from these industry drivers, we fully expect to continue our growth as the leading provider of data mining, interactive marketing and software services in China. That's a snapshot of who we are and the history of the company.
